Alexander McCall Smith - Thursday 6th October 2011 at Methodist Ladies College, Claremont

We had an entertaining evening, listening to Alexander McCall Smith on his visit to Perth this year.  He talked about himself, his books, the adventures that befall his characters and so much more.  No1 Ladies Detective Agency is currently screening on our Perth TV .... He told us that he felt that Mma Makutsi was getting too proud about making tea and asked us if she should still make tea for Mma Ramotwe.  Everyone felt that she really needed to stick with making the tea!!

He also talked about his latest book, the fourth book of the von Igelfeld series... The Unusual Uses of Oil.  We did ask if Hugh Laurie was going to be reading it .... apparently not this time.  It is read by Julian Rhind-Tutt.

He also talked about The Really Terrible Orchestra .... which might not be quite as terrible as he makes it out to be!!

We always enjoy his visits to Perth and look forward to reading his books
